Meadowedge Art provides children from its rural community an intimate studio learning environment where each child engages in an array of art experiences to which he or she would not otherwise have access, and is encouraged to discover, explore and expand his or her unique skills and enthusiasms for creating art.
A PLACE TO CREATE
Set on a hill above tree lined meadows in Bernardston, MA, Meadowedge offers 4- 13 year olds a deep and enduring involvement with visual art.
Small classes and the continuity of a 25 week program provide a stable framework within which imagination and skills grow together into unified expression.
During the 90 - 120 minute classes, students work at their own pace; each participant is encouraged to trust his or her unique way of seeing, and to develop the tools and techniques necessary to bring his or her vision to life. Confidence is heightened through community exhibitions, where students feel a sense of celebration and pride in displaying their completed work.
"With so much in their lives prepackaged and done for them, where are the experiences in which children, growing to maturity, learn that doing is fraught with uncertainty, but wonderfully rewarding when brought to completion by one 's own efforts?" -Dorothy Cohen The Learning Child
